Zune Review...

My thoughts on my Zune... I have a 1st gen Brown 30GB Zune. I use it every second Im away from my computer. I go take a dump, its in my hand, blaring techno, I cook some food, Im watching Cowboy Bebop, it's storming like a motherfucker and Im in a cellar, Im on the radio. No matter what situation Im in, Im using my Zune. Half the time, even if Im on my computer Ill listen to music through my Zune, just for the hell of it. Thats how much bliss it brings into my life. I had an iPod, no longer than 2 weeks. I crushed it under a friends tire. The interface and navigation on iPods make me wanna drive a tetnus-soaked rusty nail through both my eyes. Then pore salt in the wound. Since Im a musician, I make songs constantly. And I want to show them to people. So if someone else has a Zune, Im like 'yo, lemme beam you this' and I send it to them wirelessly, and they're like 'yo dawg, that shit is dope' or whatever the cool kids say now-a-days. Then, someone is like 'lol wuts that' and Im like, it's a Zune. And they're like 'huh? wutsazune?' and Im like, it's like an iPod, only, it doesnt lick dick. And they get all offended, cause for some God-forsaken reason, every living person who DOESNT know shit about technology or electronics has an iPod. I'd rather roll with a freaking cassette player than have another iPod. Anyways, the interface on the Zune is nice, the main menu consists of slightly over-sized links to certain aspects of the Zune: Music, Pictures, Videos, Marketplace, Podcasts, Social, and Settings. You can scroll down and hit the center button to take you there, and the Zune sorts your music by Artist, album, songs, etc. If you dont have the album art for that album, it will just use whatever your background for the zune is. Yes, you can have custom backgrounds. Videos play almost flawlessly, and I think, that its the 1st device to do videos right. PSP was good, but honestly, thats for games, not media. Zune will play the vids horizontally, liek a widescreen tv/moniter, and play them, gloriously. Pictures are good, too. You can sort your pics on the Zune through folders, just like on your PC. You can set up a slideshow in a matter of seconds, and also listen to music or the radio while you look through your photos. Wireless I think is up to 30 ft, maybe more. Its nice though, you can send pics and tunes and podcasts to other zunes, and even sync content from your PC wirelessly. And now you can browse the Zune marketplace and DL stuff right onto your Zune, right off your Zune! You can also name your Zune whatever you want, right now mine is named 'A Change of Seasons'. The looks and feel of the Zune are incredible. I actually thought the iPods looked a little attractive, and after seeing the Zunes in action, I was never more turned on in my life. The 1st and 2nd Gen Zunes both look uBer sexy with that sleek and slick look to them. I like the way the 2nd Gen Zunes look a bit more than the 1st gens, but they both look fine. Plus, I mean, EVERYONE has an iPod, its time to change it up a bit. Go grab yourself a Zune and Welcome to the Social. /end rant/review.
My first review

Note: This is copied from my Gamespot account, so you'll see it there too.

Many had hoped for a game with a great story, gameplay, visuals,
sounds, and the likes. Sadly, Stranglehold just can't compare the games
like Uncharted.

The game opens with a VERY short scene (I think somewhere around two
minutes, at the most). You can tell that the developers really wanted
to make the game feel like one of the classic movies by John Woo, the
game tells you little, and expects you to be fine with it.

The characters feel shallow, and the voice work could use a bit of a
touch up. I know, I know, it was meant to be like the movies, but
honestly. Can't they have a thinner Chinese accent? It was hard to
understand what they were saying, and no, I'm not being closed-minded.
Even through the accents, the lines were delivered with little emotion,
and felt cold. Bugged me a bit that there wasn't a subtitle option too.

The graphics could've used a bit of work as well. They weren't bad or
anything, and yes, I was playing on a SDTV, but that shouldn't matter.
Other games look amazing without the use of a HDTV, and I respect them
for it. I did like the fact that on a certain level, it was raining,
Tequila (the main character) was wet, his clothes were darker and stuck
to him, his hair was plastered against his forehead. It was quite
convincing.

The gameplay also felt somewhat broken. Even after adjusting the look
sensitivity, it was hard to aim. There is no lock-on option (although,
you don't necessarily NEED one, one would be appreciated). I would find
myself over aiming normally, and under aiming in Tequila Time
(bullet-time). The game was also short. Only seven levels, each about
an hour long. It seemed that you could just run in a tight circle and
spray your enemies with whatever type of bullet you wanted until the
room feel silent and you moved on. The whole 'use the environment
against your enemies' thing didn't go further than the third level,
after than there was little interactivity with the environment.

The sounds sounded good for the most part. Most of the weapons had a
nice ring to them, although the shotgun wasn't NEARLY as deep as it
should have been. The musical score was all right, but nothing really
stood out.

All in all, the game wasn't horrid, it just wasn't as good as most
expected. With better games out there, I'd say pass this one and play a
different game.
Zune 3.0 Update Review

Now I havent gotten the new Zune software, so this review is just over the firmware update...

On September 16, 2008, MS released a new version of the Zune software as well as new firmware for the actual Zune it self. They have a slew of new features, which I will review presently...

Screen Lock---uBer handy! Whenever you backlight goes off for a bit, or you standby your Zune and bring it back on, 4 boxes will appear, in which you put in your code, a 4 number code, which unlocks the screen and allows you to use it. Handy for if you're at a social event or party and you left your Zune out and don't want people looking thru ya pics. I use it a lot, and my password is (deleted by administrator)

Clock---Fucking finally! You don't know how many times I've needed to know the time, but couldn't! Now MS added a small clock in the upper right hand corner of the main menu, and the main menu only. You set the time and it will show up as '8:28a', with the 'a' standing for AM, and 'p' for PM. Gives off a notion that the clock keeps that 'sleek and badass' attitude the Zune already has.

Marketplace---When in a Wi-Fi hotspot, and you turn your Zune's wireless feature on, and connect to the network and browse the Zune Marketplace right from your Zune. Look at the top songs, top albums, new releases, search for content, and look at what is in your cart. You can search for 'Feel Good Inc' and it will search the Zune Marketplace for albums, songs, artists, etc containing that name. Find the song you want? Preview it, and download it right then and there!

Games---OMFG, NO WAI. I've wanted this for freaking ever, and it's finally here. The new update comes with 2 free games, Hexic and Texas Hold 'Em. Through the XNA 3.0 Beta software and MS Visual studio, you can put custom games and applications that the community has made themselves right on your Zune! Have a buddy who has a Zune, and need to tell him something in private? Make sure you and your friend has the Zune Instant Messenger app someone made, and send him an IM! ITS AMAZING!

Buy from FM---If for some reason, you're listening to the radio on your Zune and you hear a song you like, you can tag the song, then download it later in the marketplace! w00tz0rz!

Thats all the features that I've tried extensivly, and that's pretty much all the new features anyways. I hope this review will help you if you're thinking about buying a Zune, or thinking about getting rid of your Zune ASAP. Whatever your goal is, I hope I helped!

---Snaggle
Jurassic 5 Review

Ok, so this band is named 'Jurassic 5' and they are a alternative rap/hip hop group consisting of 5 members, 4 MC's, Chali 2na, Akil, Zaakir, Mark 7even, and the Dj-ist, Nu-Mark. They've been around for a long time, since 1993, but I just stumbled upon them. My brother bought the album 'Power in Numbers' a few months ago and as I listened, I thought back to that feeling that you get when you're cleaning your ears, and it feels SO GOOD and you think you're about to blow your load everywhere. That's what I was feeling when I was listening to that album. The way that the flow of all the MC's work together, is just amazing. They each have thier own individual style of flow, and they way collaberate is just, epic. Mix that with their phat beats that their DJ-ist Nu-Mark supplies, and you have a good recipe for an insane amount of jovial bliss. Songs that I recomend are 'If You Only Knew', 'High Fidelity', 'What's Golden', 'Sum of Us', and 'Dot', all from the album Power in Numbers.

Bands that remind me of them are: A Tribe Called Quest, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Danger DOOM, and GRITS.
You Wasted Life Why Wouldn't You Waste the Afterlife?

So Im just sittin' here bored outta mah mind cause I am retartded and forgot my Zune today, so Im stuck without music, which sucks wang. Chocolate wang. Anywho, Im feeling pretty good after harping about Phil Harrison and the E3 press conference that was a flop, so Im talk about some upcoming events...

My birthday is in a few weeks, October the 9th. Ill be 18, which means I can buy tobacco-based products....

...too bad I don't smoke, lawl. Anywho, that lands on a Thursday, which is a nice change of pace, cause for like 3 years straight it landed on a Sunday, and no one could ever do anything cause they all had to go to church, lol! Anywho, Im prolly gonna have a mini-LAN and hang out and chill with some homies. Lawl I love using street slang, its teh gr8est, cause at heart, Im a gamer, and even in my normal speech when Im conversing with people, I use 'game-slang' and 'leetspeak'. Anywho, I've been playing the crap outta Soul Calibur IV for the Xbox 360, and have actually made a few 'soultages' from it, showing of my characters I made and how hard they rape. This is a solid fighter, and should be right under DOA4 in terms of quality and fun. The only reason why DOA would be better is just because it's more popular, and that doesnt always mean something is better, but a large amount of people who play games are casual gamers, and they don't know what a good game is, and if you asked them 'have you heard of that video game "Halo"?' and they would be like 'oh yeahz its teh bestest gamez ever' even though they don't know crap. But don't get me wrong, Im a hardcore Bungie fan as well as a hardcore Halo fan, but I hate people who think Halo is the best game ever just because It's so damn popular. (And good!) : D

Im done.
Yeah, so here's to the 2nd blog post from Snaggle of Rotten Mango! *Drinks shot of Jager* Anywho, nothing much going on right now, just going over the submissions from the riddle contest being held at our forum. And laughing at answers.

Furthermore, I've been listening to this rap group called 'Jurassic 5' and I gotta say....holy shit

They are actually more of an alternative rap group, cause rap today sucks dick. Its all about 'cash hoe's and clubs' which is fucking dumb. These guys rap about a number of things, ranging from life lessons, to racism and oppression. The group consists of 4 MC's and 2 turn-table-ist, DJ Nu-Mark and DJ Cut Chemist. Combining mad flow with phat beats and ryhmes, Jurassic 5 has climbed their way to my top 5 bands of all time, hands down. Check out my favorite album 'Power In Numbers' and listen away, I promise you, you love me for it.
